Player Rules
To ensure that players can enjoy as safe an experience as possible, and in order for the league to be successful, rules are required. In addition to the CHA rules, there are also these special rules. By joining the league you accept the following:
- Hockey is a physical game, and the potential for serious injury is always present. Play at your own risk.
- This is a minimum-contact league. Players deemed to be playing too aggressively
will be warned. Repeat offences will result in game ejection, suspension, and
finally expulsion from the league.
- Dishonesty (stealing, cheating) will result in expulsion from
the league. Any illegal activity will be reported to the police, and any breach of civil law will be addressed legally.
- Abuse of officials will not be tolerated.
- Players expelled from the league for any reason lose all deposits and/or
monies paid.
- Each player will have and wear the appropriate colour jersey for his or
her team for each game.
- New players will be required to buy a jersey. The jersey price is approximately $50.00
- Every player is required to pay all required fees in full before being accepted to a team.
Players found on OCHL ice who are not paid and registered will be removed and the team punished.
- Payments must be received from every registered player by the specified deadlines. Payments may be made online (www.ochl.ca/payments/index.php). Failure to make payment on time may result in loss of a roster spot.
- Players who elect to play without face protection or any other piece of protective gear forfeit their option to compensation under our collective insurance policy and waive the right to seek legal redress.
- A helmet must be worn at all times.
- All players accept that they are subject to the OCHL's trading and draft rules - ver.10.
- Anyone found under the influence of, in possession of, or using illegal drugs will be permanently expelled from the league. Any evidence of use is de facto proof of use and is considered the same as if the drug use were witnessed. Teams can and will be punished if the drug use was participated in by more than one member of the team, or occured in team dressing rooms or on the bench.
- Refunds are only issued according to our refund policy. View it here
- Alcohol is not allowed in any of the arenas that we use, at anytime, for any reason. Violators will be subject to punishments between suspensions and league expulsion and arrest.
- The OCHL reserves the right to reject a player's application
or end a player's participation in the league at the league's discretion provided that all pre-paid (outstanding)
monies are refunded. We are not interested in having players with discipline problems. The league will end the registration of players who routinely ruin the fun of everyone else. Where players are expelled for breach of conduct, there are no refunds whatsoever.
Ignorance of or disagreement with any of these rules does not constitute grounds to contravene any of the above terms. These are conditions of your registration. If a player is unwilling or unable to abide by these rules, they may not continue with participation. Thank you for your cooperation and may you enjoy playing in the OCHL.
